I was deeply moved one day at camp.

Like an emerald glistening in the sun, I watched a young nomad boy weave his way down the huge dune towards us.

He was 16 and had lost his 2 young camels.

He was distraught and extremely thirsty.

We fed him and gave him water. Abdulhavid looked for tracks and helped the boy to head off in a different direction.

However after sunset he returned to our camp, camels still missing, so we invited him to shelter with us and continue the search in the morning.

These camels really are the Mercedes Benz of the desert, and relatively as valuable to the nomadic people so we were relieved to hear he found his 2 young camels a couple of days later.

Kindness of strangers……

I will never forget…..
